After all the excitement of their Euros win last summer, England’s Lionesses will be trying to go one better at the Women’s World Cup, starting this month in Australia and New Zealand. Game on
The preparation and pre-tournament friendlies are all over and the teams have now flown Down Under for the start of the tournament on 20th July. England kick off their campaign just a couple of days later in Brisbane Stadium. England’s Group D games are:
• 22nd July England vs Haiti
• 28th July England vs Denmark
• 1St August England vs China

The grand final takes place at Stadium Australia on 20th August, and there are several countries in the running for a place.
Can England win the Women’s World Cup?
England are one of the favourites to win the tournament, especially after their convincing win at the Euros just last year. However, their current side is a shadow of that team, thanks to injuries to the likes of Leah Williamson and Beth Mead, and the retirement of Jungle Queen Gill Scott and the free-scoring Ellen White.
Naturally, four times winners, USA, are the outright favourites, having won the last two Women’s World Cups, with beaten Euro finalists Germany, Olympic Gold winners Canada, and Spain all in with a strong shout.
